Description

A fungal disease which attacks the foliage, stems, flowers and fruit on a range of edible plants and ornamentals. They usually have a narrow host range

Symptoms

White, powdery felt-like patches on upper or lower leaf surfaces, flowers and fruit, with affected growths often becoming stunted or distorted. Leaves may turn yellow and develop a pinkish tinge also, the plant declines in vigour. Development of the fungus is faster during dry conditions and is most rapid on warm days with cool, damp nights. Plants affected include; Acanthus, apple, azaleas, blackcurrant, cabbages, cauliflowers, courgettes, cucumbers. delphiniums, gooseberry, grapes, honeysuckle, marrows, oak, peas, phlox, rhododendron and roses.
