What causes black centres in strawberry flowers?

Our Advice:

This is usually caused by a sharp frost when the fruits are just starting to form. This will not harm the whole plant, but those affected flowers and fruits will usually turn brown and rot. Make sure you remove these fruits or the rotting may spread to other strawberry fruits. Next year have some fleece ready to protect those early fruits.
