2024 marks the Silver Jubilee of London Open Gardens providing public access to secret squares and gardens for all, raising funds to help protect these gorgeous ‘green lungs’ of London.

Over 25 years this much-loved event has grown from opening iconic locked London Squares to letting the public enjoy exquisite roof gardens enjoyed by city bankers, historic institutions, community allotments and even the Prime Minister’s own garden! (Downing St only accessible via a ballot).

An exciting range of walks, cycle tours and activities in gardens for all ages are also available – hurry to book the last few remaining spaces! Many gardens offer refreshments, plant sales, tours as well as a quiet place to relax. Our online Garden selector allows visitors to match their interests or location with a personal itinerary.

Nine exciting gardens join LOG this year for the first time or after a long break. The Charterhouse Courtyard Gardens on the edge of the city, showcases seven beautiful acres of garden space including Charterhouse Square and six courtyard gardens within the Tudor walls.

The beautiful Barkston Gardens joins a suite of stunning squares uniquely un-locked for our event including Hyde Park Square and neighbouring Gloucester Square. Gloucester Square boasts an impressive new playground covering 1.6 acres which will be accessible throughout the weekend (Tickets are free for under 12s).

Roof gardens are a favourite for many and this year we’re spoilt with half a dozen iconic high spaces showcasing our green capital from above.

New community gardens opening in 2024 include the Spurgeon Estate Garden in Lambeth, Quill Street Allotments in Gillespie Park and Highbury Quadrant, a beautiful hidden but child friendly woodland area right in the city.

In our anniversary year, we will also celebrate the gardens who opened a quarter century ago. These include the cherished gardens of Ladbroke Square, The Inner Temple, Cadogan Place South, and many, many more.

Nathan Oley, Chair of London Open Gardens and Trustee of London Parks and Gardens commented: “

“What better way to celebrate our gorgeous green city, than to explore the parts other events cannot reach?! London Open Gardens’ silver jubilee is a unique celebration of London’s green lungs and LPG’s commitment to protect them for everyone.”
