How do I prune roses?

Our Advice:

Climbing roses look great against a wall, fence or grown as a column adding height and interest to garden. You can give yours a head start in spring by pruning out any unwanted, damaged or diseased growth. Trim the flower bearing laterals back to about four buds before training and tying in the main shoots. When the new growth starts, begin spraying to control blackspot, mildew and rust, as most fungicides work better as a protective coating over the leaves before any fungal disease has chance to establish.
