What causes cracks and rough markings on my apples?

Our Advice:

This sounds like apple scab, which prefers damp conditions. It attacks the leaves, but can also spread to the fruit. Spray with Copper Mixture from Vitax (including the soil around the base of the tree) and rake up any fallen leaves or fruit. Follow up with a spray of Uncle Toms Rose Tonic to boost the health of the tree.
