Does coloured dye and glitter harm a plant?

💡 Our Advice
It is becoming common to use dyes and glitter to tempt us to buy indoor plants. Most of the products used are based on vegetable dyes and usually wear off without doing long-term damage. The new growth shows the plant's true colour while the covering on the older leaves gradually fades. Glitter is shed gradually as the plant grows.
