Blackcurrants can be easily multiplied using hardwood cuttings. These are made from one-year-old shoots cut to about 25 cm (10 in) long. Take cuttings after leaf-fall and insert them into the border, with the lower two-thirds of the cutting in the soil. They should have formed a strong fibrous root system by the autumn.
