How can I propagate a Japanese blood grass?

💡 Our Advice
Red leaved Imperata cylindrica is usually propagated by division. Prune back the old, dead foliage and flower heads in early spring. When the new shoots are about 15 cm high, dig up the whole plant and split it into small sections. Each with some roots and leaves. Discard the old core of the plant and replant the new sections.
