Last year all my young pears turned black and fell off. Why?

Our Advice:

Grubs of pear midge feed inside embryo fruits, causing them to abort. Rake up and burn all fallen fruitlets. This year (from mid-spring onwards) spray with either Organic 2in1 from Vitax or Plant Rescue for Fruit and Veg from Westland.
