When is the best time to prune a pomegranate tree?

Our Advice:

The young shoots which form late in the season are often nipped by frost, so prune the stems just as the new growth starts in the spring, cutting back to a strong bud or branch. Pomegranates tend to be bushy in the UK and produce large numbers of suckers from the base.
