When is the best time to prune my lemon tree?

Our Advice:

Citrus should be pruned during spring or early summer to allow the new growth to mature before winter. Remove the end 1/3 of each shoot and cut out any thin, weak shoots in the centre of the plant. Severe pruning may cause death as citrus do not store food in the stems.
