Why do my leeks keel over in the autumn and winter?

Our Advice:

The most likely cause is an attack by leek moth. Caterpillars burrow into the stems of leeks and onions, weakening the plants. Spray with Bayer Greenfly Killer'>Greenfly Killer from Bayer from late-spring through to mid-autumn or protect plants with horticultural fleece.
