How do I deal with flower stems on rhubarb?

💡 Our Advice
Cut down flower stems to stop the plant producing seeds. Next autumn dig up and divide the rhubarb crown, discarding the mid-section where the flowers originate. Replant the outer, young sections of the crown, but let them grow for a year before harvesting stalks.
