How do I deal with a flowering stem on rhubarb plant?

💡 Our Advice
These are often an indication that the clump is getting old and needs dividing. Cut down any flower stems to stop the plant producing seeds. Dig up and divide the rhubarb crown in the autumn, discarding the flowering sections. Replant the young, outer sections of the crown, but let them grow for a year before harvesting stalks.
