Mulberries do not need regular pruning and often they are only pruned to remove dead or dying wood. They are notorious for bleeding sap when they are pruned. For this reason, young shoots are pruned in summer when the plant is in full leaf. Large branches should be pruned about 4 weeks after leaf fall to reduce the chance of bleeding.
