Why are birds pecking at the new shoots of my Viburnum bush?

💡 Our Advice
Aphids often survive over winter as eggs on Viburnum bushes and start to hatch in spring. The birds are probably feeding on the ones which have started to colonise your plant. If you find the shrub is being damaged by the birds, you can spray it with Grazers, which should prevent any more damage to the shoots.
