Why does my flowering cherry tree get blackfly every year?

Our Advice:

The pests almost certainly survive the winter on the tree as eggs. Spraying with Winter Wash from Vitax will kill off many of these eggs, followed by regular sprays of Resolva Bug Killer from Westland or Bayer Greenfly Killer'>Greenfly Killer from Bayer as soon as the insects are spotted.
