Most viburnums are cold hardy and can tolerate temperatures as low as -20°F (-28°C). However, some varieties are more sensitive to cold temperatures than others. If your viburnum is not tolerating cold temperatures, it may be due to a lack of winter hardiness or exposure to extreme cold. To protect your viburnum from cold damage, consider planting it in a sheltered location or wrapping it in burlap during the winter months. Applying a layer of mulch around the base of the plant can also help insulate the roots and protect them from freezing.
