What are the brown corky lumps on my potatoes?

💡 Our Advice
This is common scab, which can also affect beetroot, swedes and turnips. It is worse on dry, limey soils, so keep the plants well watered, don't add too much lime and choose cultivars which show some resistance, such as; 'Accent', 'Arran Pilot', 'Juliette', 'Golden Wonder', 'King Edward', 'Pentland Crown' and 'Pentland Javelin'.
