Why do my tomato skins go tough and split?

💡 Our Advice
Tomatoes need lots of water. If they are dry for a few days the skins harden and lose their elasticity. When re- watered the fruits swell but the skin can't stretch, so it splits. This allows infected by fungal spores which can ruin the fruit.
