Can I put seaweed on the allotment as a manure?

Our Advice:

Seaweed provides organic matter and small amounts of nutrients, so it helps improve soil fertility. It must be soaked in tubs of fresh water before putting it on the garden to remove the salt (high salt levels are harmful). It is often used on asparagus beds.
