To plant dahlias, start by digging a hole that is slightly deeper than the height of the tuber, and about 12-18 inches wide. Place the tuber in the hole with the eye facing up, and cover it with 2-3 inches of soil. Water the plant thoroughly and continue to water regularly throughout the growing season.
