What is making my seedlings collapse and go mouldy?

Our Advice:

This is called damping-off and can be caused by several types of fungus. Avoid over-watering, using dirty pots / trays, using peat-free compost or unsterilised home-made seed composts. Water the seed trays with Copper Mixture from Vitax immediately after seed sowing and again when germination starts.
