When should I cut down my Penstemon plants for the winter?

💡 Our Advice
Leave the tops on the plants for the winter. If the tops are left on, they help to protect the crown of the plant in colder weather and aid its survival. Cut them down now and they can start to regrow if the weather is mild, only to get frosted if it turns cold. The best time to prune is when you notice the new growth starting in the spring.
