Why do some of my tomatoes go black at the bottom?

💡 Our Advice
This is a disorder (not a disease) called blossom-end rot, which can be caused by erratic watering, calcium deficiency or both. Treat the plants with calcium nitrate from Chempak at 50g in 5 litres of water, watered into the compost. This will not cure the affected fruits, but will help to stop newly-forming fruits being damaged.
