What is causing black mould on the leaves of my Camellia?

Our Advice:

This is probably the result scale insects on the undersides of the leaves. They feed and excrete “honeydew” onto the leaves, where this sooty mould grows on it. To control these pests, spray with Neudorff'>Pyrol Bug & Larvae Killer from Neudorff or Resolva Bug Killer from Westland. It may take several applications to kill all of these insects.
