Our Advice
This is dog lichen, which usually indicates heavy, poorly-drained soil and is worse if the lawn is neglected. Apply lawn sand and spike the lawn in spring to a depth of 4-6 in (10-15cm). Feeding in spring and autumn will restore strength and vigour.
