How do I grow Christmas cacti from seed?

Our Advice:

Leave the fruits on the plant as long as possible. Pick them in spring and sow the fresh seed into pots of sandy compost (equal parts John Innes seed compost and sand). Place in a warm, light position at a temperature of 20c (68f). Keep the compost moist but never wet.
