Chrysanthemums can be propagated through stem cuttings or division. To propagate through stem cuttings, take a 3-4 inch cutting from the tip of a healthy stem and remove the lower leaves. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and plant it in a pot filled with moist potting soil. Place the pot in a bright, warm location and keep the soil moist until roots develop, usually within 2-3 weeks. To propagate through division, wait until the plant has finished blooming and has gone dormant. Carefully dig up the plant and separate the root ball into sections, making sure each section has a healthy shoot or bud. Plant each section in a new location or container, watering well and keeping the soil moist until new growth appears.
