When can I spray redcurrants to control scale insects?

Our Advice:

Wait until the leaves are half open before spraying with either Provanto Ultimate Bug Killer (Bayer) or Bug Clear Ultra (Scott's). Repeat 6 weeks later. Spraying before the leaves have opened does not work because the chemical is taken in through the leaves.
