When is the best time to prune a large Forsythia shrub?
Our Advice
Ideally, this shrub should be pruned immediately after the flowers have faded. Cut down all the shoots that carried flowers to allow new shoots to grow from the base which will carry next year's blooms. To get the best results, feed the plant after pruning with a general fertiliser at about 100 grams per square metre.
