When is the best time to prune a silver birch?

Our Advice:

During mid- to late-summer when it is in full leaf, to reduce the risk of excessive sap loss and fungal infection. Pruning in winter can cause severe die-back and if done in early spring it may bleed large quantities of sap which can considerably weaken the tree.
