Why is gum oozing from the bark of my cherry tree?

💡 Our Advice
This is bacterial canker which can kill the tree if not dealt with. Prune out dead or dying branches then treat stem cankers (areas around the gum) by painting with a paste made from Copper Mixture from Vitax. If possible, spray the tree later with Copper Mixture when the leaves are half open.
