I have been given a Witch hazel, are they hardy?

💡 Our Advice
Many of these plants (Hamamelis) originate from places like China, Japan and North America where the winters can get extremely cold. Even the flowers can cope with temperatures down to minus 20c. If they are grown in pots, it is the roots which are vulnerable to frost damage, but growing in the garden they are very hardy.
