What is shredding the leaves on my gooseberry bushes?

Our Advice:

This is gooseberry sawfly, which can completely strip your plants if you do nothing about it. Spray the plants with PY Insecticide from Vitax or Pyrol Bug & Larvae Killer from Neudorff. Spray in the evening to avoid harming any beneficial insects. Also, cultivate under the bushes so the birds can find and eat any pupa hiding in the soil.
