What is shredding the leaves on my gooseberry bushes?

Our Advice:

This is gooseberry sawfly, which can completely strip your plants. Spray with PY Insecticide from Vitax or use Nemasys Caterpillar Killer from Harrod Horticultural as a biological control. Cultivate under the bushes so that the birds can find and eat the pupa hiding in the soil.
