When and how should I prune a climbing Hydrangea?

💡 Our Advice
This climber flowers on the previous years growth should be pruned straight after flowering. This is usually a process of cutting back the dead flower heads and trimming back any shoots which are growing out at right angles from the supporting structure. Some spring pruning may be needed to trim back any frost damaged shoots.
