When is the best time to dead head/prune hydrangeas?

💡 Our Advice
Prune in spring just as they start to shoot. Cut all the weakest and thinnest shoots down to ground level and remove or shorten any branches that are rubbing against one another to prevent damage. Finally, cut back all the remaining shoots by one-third to a pair of strong, healthy buds and feed the plant with a general fertiliser.
