How can I tell when apples are ready to pick?

💡 Our Advice
The colour of the skin can be an indication, wasps or birds attacking the fruit or apples beginning to fall off the tree. Try lifting an apple up 90o very gently (or twisting slightly) to see if it comes away in your hand. When you cut the apple open, the pips (seeds) should be brown, rather than white or pale beige.
