What is making my pear fruits turn black and drop off the tree?

💡 Our Advice
Grubs of pear midge feed inside the fruits, causing them to abort. Rake up and burn all fallen fruitlets. Next year (from mid-spring) spray the tree with PY Insect Killer from Vitax or Provanto Ultimate Fruit & Vegetable Bug Killer from Bayer to kill the adults before they lay eggs.
