When can I prune my lilac?

Our Advice:

The best time is just after it has finished flowering. Cut off dead flower spikes and about 30 cm (12 in) of stem to stop it getting too straggly. Remove any dead or damaged shoots and feed it with a small amount of general fertiliser such as Growmore.
