Pansy flowers turning brown is a sign of either overwatering or underwatering. If the soil is too wet or the drainage is poor, the roots may rot, causing the flowers to turn brown. If the soil is too dry, the flowers may also turn brown and become crispy. It's important to water pansies consistently, allowing the top inch of soil to dry out before watering again. Also, make sure the soil has good drainage to prevent waterlogged conditions.
