This plant Grisellinia littoralis makes a very attractive hedge and is excellent for coastal gardens. For a dense hedge to provide good screening and shelter prune it twice each year. Once during the late spring and again in late summer. Trimming with secateurs usually gives a better finish than using a hedge trimmer or shears.
