Can I grow a fig tree in a container?

💡 Our Advice
Figs are ideal for growing in containers because they need their roots restricting. Use a large pot, at least 45-60cm diameter, and at least 60cm deep. Wood or clay pots are preferred as they are cooler in summer and warmer in winter. Figs prefer a gritty, free-draining compost (John Innes No 3 with 25% extra grit).
