What are the green banana-like pods on my magnolia bush?

💡 Our Advice
These are magnolia fruits which will eventually split open to reveal bright orange seeds. You can collect the seeds, place them in a bag of moist sand and put them in your refrigerator (not freezer) until late February then sow into pots of John Innes No1 compost and place outside. They can take up to two years to germinate and grow.
