Why has my bromeliad plant started to die after flowering?

Our Advice:

Once they have flowered, the flower stem and rosette it originated from will gradually shrivel and die. This will be replaced by a new off shoot (sometimes several) growing from beside the original rosette, which will grow and eventually produce the next flower.
