Can I grow Rhubarb in a pot on my balcony?

💡 Our Advice
Rhubarb can be grown in pots, but they will need large pots at least 50cm deep and 50cm - 75cm wide. Use a loam-based compost such as John Innes No 3 mixed with well rotted organic matter. Pot the rhubarb so that the tip of the crown is visible above the surface of the compost. Do not harvest any sticks in the first year = allow the plant to develop.
