Is it safe to put rhubarb leaves in my compost bin?

💡 Our Advice
Rhubarb leaves contain very small amounts of poisonous substances, including oxalic acid which will do no harm in the compost bin. If they are mixed with other organic materials, such as shredded prunings, grass clippings, leaves or vegetable trimmings from the kitchen they will help to to provide a compost ideal for mulching.
