When is the best time to reduce an overgrown privet hedge?

Our Advice:

The best time for renovation pruning is mid-spring, when the plants are growing rapidly. For badly overgrown hedges, prune the sides first and when the new shoots start to emerge, prune the top. After pruning, feed with a general fertiliser like Growmore.
