When should I prune a young walnut tree?

💡 Our Advice
The best time is during mid-summer when it is in full leaf, to reduce the risk of excessive bleeding and fungal infection. Pruning in winter can cause severe die-back and pruning in early spring means it may bleed large quantities of sap, which can considerably weaken the tree.
